The Kewanee Holiday Lighting Competition 2025 is your chance to shine bright this holiday season! Whether you go for a classic look, a colorful wonderland, or something totally unique, we want to see your creativity.

🎁 How It Works

1.    Register Your Home

Sign up using our quick online form before Friday, December 5, 2025. You’ll provide your name, address, and a little info about your display. Don’t wait until the last minute — registration closes the night before the parade

2.    Light Up and Get Ready

Have your decorations finished and shining by Sunday, December 7, 2025, the same night the town kicks off the holiday season with the parade and lights-on ceremony. This way, your home is ready for judges and neighbors to enjoy from day one.

3.    Judging Week

Our judges will visit entries between December 8-17, 2025. They’ll be looking for creativity, holiday spirit, overall impact, and clever use of lights. Meanwhile, community members can cast their votes for the People’s Choice Award through our online ballot

.4.    Celebrate the Winners

Winners will be announced the weekend of December 21, 2025. Categories include:

    •    🌟 Most Festive home – high energy, bright colors, music, inflatables, joy overload. Think Clark Griswold

    •    🎨 Most Creative – unique themes, DIY builds, storytelling, synchronized lights.

    •    🎄 Best Traditional – classic elegance: white lights, wreaths, garland, candles in windows, nativity scenes, timeless beauty.

    •    🗳️ People’s Choice – public vote on Facebook.

Prizes, recognition, and a special winner’s yard sign will go to the champions in each category!

kewanee HOLIDAY LIGHT competition – terms and conditions

    1.    Eligibility

    •    Open to all residents of Kewanee, Illinois.

    •    Participants must be the homeowner or have the homeowner’s permission to enter the competition.

    2.    Entry

    •    Entry is free.

    •    Each participant must submit a completed sign-up form with accurate contact information.

    3.    Competition Rules

    •    Homes must be decorated in a holiday theme.

    •    Entries must be visible from the street/public areas.

    •    Participants must allow judges and/or organizers to view the display.

    4.    Judging

    •    Winners will be determined based on creativity, overall appearance, and adherence to the theme.

    •    Judges’ decisions are final.

    5.    Photography & Media

    •    By entering, participants consent to the organizers taking photos or videos of their property.

    •    Organizers reserve the right to use any photos or videos for promotional purposes, including social media, websites, and marketing materials.

    •    No compensation will be provided for the use of photos or videos.

    6.    Liability

    •    Organizers are not responsible for any damage, theft, or injury related to participation in the competition.

    •    Participants are responsible for ensuring their displays are safe for the public.

    7.    Privacy

    •    Contact information collected for the competition will only be used to communicate about the contest and related events.

    8.    Modifications & Cancellation

    •    Organizers reserve the right to modify or cancel the competition at any time.
